Goal 1 Faculty & Students
Attract, develop, and retain faculty and students who exemplify excellence in teaching and research. Provide them with an environment that will enable them to flourish.
Goal 1 Objectives
- Raise faculty salaries to parity with peers in comparable teaching or administrative positions in public education.
- Conduct recruitment activities with Salt Lake Community College to increase undergraduate admissions.
- Maintain linkages with the Native American Teacher Education Program.
- Conduct a survey of admitted undergraduate students to determine their satisfaction with the program and identify needed support.
Goal 2 Exemplary Programs
Become one of the leading departments of special education by developing rigorous, innovative teaching and research programs that are responsive to the needs of the community, and nationally regarded.
Goal 2 Objectives
- Design and implement the Disabilities and Diversity class in the Master and Doctoral programs.
- Identify possible strategies for developing and implementing a course in emerging literacy.
- Continue collaborative efforts with Teaching and Learning in reading.
- Identify possible strategies to provide ongoing support for the Orientation and Mobility course.

Develop new knowledge that will have a significant impact on teaching, learning, education systems, and the profession.

Design and implement collaborative programs across disciplines that directly affect the quality of education in the state, region, and nation.
